Stoke Mandeville Football Club Smoke-Free Side-lines is a collaboration between the Berks and Bucks Football Association and The South Bucks Mini Soccer Conference.
As an affiliated club to the Football Association, we aim to introduce a culture of smoke-free side-lines across our training and match venues to encourage harm reduction to those exposed to smoking.
Children and young people are at risk the more they are exposed to smoke and the acceptance of smoking in our society. Furthermore, young people are most at risk of becoming smokers themselves if they grow up in communities where smoking is the norm.
The move for our club to adopt a smoke-free policy complements existing club policies which supports Stoke Mandeville Football Clubs' desire to create a healthy family-friendly environment.
Who is affected by the Policy?
This policy applies to all children and adults registered with the club, administrators, officials, coaches, parents, and visitors to our clubs designated playing areas as follows:
• Mandeville Secondary School
• Eskdale Road
Behavioural expectations
The club understands that we are role models for children and young people who choose to participate in our club activities. Therefore coaches, trainers, officials, club/match officials, volunteers, players, and spectators should refrain from smoking in the following conditions:
• Whilst on the sidelines of ALL training sessions and matches.
• When they are acting in an official capacity for the club at the above venues, supervising
children wearing club-branded clothing.
As a sports club involved in creating positive environments for well-being, we want to support our community in every way possible. This is done through ongoing development as active role models to the children and young people involved at Stoke Mandeville Football Club.
